There is no such typical day for a social worker. Everyday is full of surprising and new problems to give a hand to. They can either have a full day in the field, go to get the kids at school to meet them, go houses to see if the report was relevant or even do paper work.

To become a social worker, a university degree is required. You can either do a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or even a related field such has psychology or sociology.
